My Bio

I’m a performance poet, author of three collections of poetry, a novel and a handful of short stories. My poetry has been anthologised by Bloodaxe, Nine Arches, the Emma Press and Sidekick Books among others.

Recent notable gigs include Glastonbury on the Poetry & Words Stage, Women of the World (WOW) Festival at the South Bank, Loud Poets at the Edinburgh Fringe and headlining a national tour with Hammer and Tongue.

I am on the board of Poetry London and host two monthly events at Blacks Club in Soho; one for musicians curated by Jen Roberts, and one for poets and authors, Below Stairs, where I book the acts. I have also organised or co-organised several recent large literary events including the Hammer and Tongue slam at Battersea Power Station, Invisible Outlaws, and the Persisters.

My writing has appeared in Trespass, Rising, Pen Pusher, Time Out and DIVA magazine, I’m a Literary Death Match champion, Spread the Word LGBT Hero and member of the steering group for Birmingham’s renowned SHOUT Festival. I’ve taught workshops for the National Portrait Gallery, Temple Newsam House, Sunderland Art Gallery and various schools and colleges around the UK. I occasionally lecture on creative writing and careers at Oxford University’s Department for Continuing Education.
